Catherine Ashton – High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy

The EU Heads of State or Government, participants in their informal meeting in Brussels, on November 19, 2009, took note of the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty on 1 December, 2009.

At their informal meeting in Brussels on 19 November, ahead of the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon on 1 December, EU Heads of State or Government agreed on the election of Ms Catherine Ashton as the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
